Building Blocks of a Satisfying Life

Building a satisfying life Consists of building Health, Enlightenment, Love, and Prosperity in your life. Partnering with a therapist allows you to discover and overcome the roadblocks in your life that are keeping you from fulfilling a satisfying life. Contacting a therapist is a vulnerable endeavor that no one should take for granite. At Counseling Building Blocks Help, it is understood that contacting a therapist and opening up to someone is not an easy task. Here, you will find a friendly therapist that seeks to put you at ease as we explore the roadblocks in your life and how to overcome them.

Counseling Building Blocks Help provides online Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT),  Sandtray, Theraplay, and Parent Coaching. These approaches are meant to help discover cognitive, somatic, and behavioral obstacles that are keeping you from living a satisfying life, and to build the skills necessary to overcome these obstacles. There is futher explanation of these therapies with a video about each on this page.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is used for Acute Stress Disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It is a method that allows a client to target negative thoughts and feelings and replace those negative thoughts and feelings with positive thoughts and feelings.  EMDR does not require you to talk about the details of the trauma with the therapist or complete homework between sessions. I explain it to clients like purposeful daydreams with bilateral stimulation to help the client remain regulated. The bilateral stimulation helps in the natural healing process by encouraging the brain to shift between the two hemispheres - the front left and rear right through the hippocampus.

My method is to usually teach some coping skills and plan for normal routines to include sleep habits. I also discuss awareness of stress with the client before beginning the reprocessing sessions with the client. The reprocessing sessions online consists of using remotemdr. The client will use visual, auditory, or tactile bilateral stimulation. The tactile stimulation can be done by learning tapping techniques or by purchasing tappers that can also be used outside of session.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy follows the triphasic trauma outline:

 (1) teaching the client relaxation techniques

 (2) having the client create a trauma narrative

(3) review the trauma narrative and conduct invivo exposure.

This method is good for clients who want to talk about their experiences, enjoy journaling, and have a particular incident they want to target.

We will use TF-CBT for clients who wish to process their trauma through the use of creating trauma narratives. This is conducted through the Simple Practice secure site.

Sand tray therapy provides the client with a method of exploring their world along with their fears and states of regulation without having to talk about themselves with the therapist. The therapist explores the sand tray creation with the client and looks at potential correlations to life experiences.

Sand tray therapist is a non-evasive method of exploring past trauma and current life struggles. The client is welcome to share as much or as little as they are comfortable with the therapist. Sand tray is a great method for clients who are unsure of the cause of their emotional dysregulation and maladaptive behaviors.

We will use the simple sand play app to conduct sand tray sessions with clients online. The client is provided a code to activate the session. The client will screen share with me while creating their sand tray and we will process the sand tray once they are done creating.

We will use DBT and CBT to teach healthy coping skills that can be used to replace troublesome behaviors. Clients can learn about distress tolerance, emotional regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal relationships. These methods can used as standalone therapies or in combination with other forms of therapy offered. This therapy is conducted through the Simple Practice secure site.

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a modified type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Its main goals are to teach people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others.

The main component of DBT is teaching clients different skills to help them in their lives. The video on this page provides examples of distress tolerance skills that can be taught to clients. Clients are expected to practice these skills outside of sessions. Clients are also provided with a diary card that helps them track emotions and behavioral responses outside of therapy session

Theraplay® is a child and family therapy for building and enhancing attachment, self-esteem, trust in others, and joyful engagement. It is based on the natural patterns of playful, healthy interaction between parent and child and is personal, physical, and fun.

Theraplay®  interactions focus on four essential qualities found in healthy parent-child relationships

We will use Theraplay to create interactions between parents and their child in order to build on fundamental elements of attachment, building health parent-child relationships. The therapist will provide the parent and child with activities to engage in during the session and provide coaching along the way. This therapy is conducted through the Simple Practice secure site

Effective January 1, 2022, a ruling went into effect called the "No Surprises Act" which requires practitioners to provider a "Good Faith Estimate" about out-of-network care. The Good Faith Estimate works to show the cost of items and services that are reasonably expected for your health care needs for an item or service, a diagnosis, and a reason for therapy. The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created. The Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. You could be charged more if complications or special circumstances occur and will be provided a new "Good Faith Estimate" should this occur. If this happens, federal law allows you to dispute (appeal) the bill if you and your therapist have not previously talked about the change and you have not been given an updated good faith estimate.

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act (PHSA), health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request, or at the time of scheduling health care items and services to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" of expected charges.

Note: The PHSA and GFE does not currently apply to any patients who are using insurance benefits, including "out of network benefits (i.e.., submitting superbills to insurance for reimbursement).

Timeline requirements: Practitioners are required to provide a good faith estimate of expected charges for a scheduled or requested service, including items or services that are reasonably expected to be provided in conjunction with such scheduled or requested item or service.” That estimate must be provided within specified timeframes.
